Based in Omaha, NE, 375 miles from the nearest IKEA. I love the term “bookworm” and I’ve been known to cook eggs in the microwave (yes, it’s safe).

What food do you like to make or indulge in?
Hummus. People don’t generally think of hummus as something you can make at home. It is so easy to make that I’m embarrassed to take any compliments on my recipe. Garbanzos, tahini, lemon juice and blend smooth. That’s it!

What’s streaming on your Pandora right now?
You’d normally catch me listening to soul-less pop music, but I’ve been listening (on repeat) to any song I can find by Imaginary Cities. The lead singer has a unique voice that just grabs me.

Do you have a favorite tip for easy entertaining?
The best purchase I made was two glass drink dispensers with a spigot. They look fancy and are less of a hassle than a big punch bowl…both during a party and storing afterward. Guests just serve themselves the drink they want. We’ve served sangria out of them, white in one and red in the other. When we had lemonade and iced tea, people made themselves Arnold Palmers (half lemonade and half iced tea). It was a hit.

If you could leave tomorrow, where is your dream vacation spot?
I would love to take off 6 months and go to Seychelles, north of Madagascar. It would be a great place to slow down and just soak in beauty.

Why do you love maché magazine?
It’s always when I find myself sharing a good meal with good friends that I stop to think, “This is what life is all about.” At maché we have delicious recipes and fun ideas, all in hopes that we will inspire people to slow down and celebrate the good things in life.
